Just so you know:
I don't believe that God created the universe 6,000 year ago.
I DO believe that God created all that exists. This is where it gets hairy because the larger and more complex the universe is, the more remote God seems to be. How can the Creator of possibly an infinite number of universes be aware of a single pinpoint of consciousness? The answer is, He can. Don't be afraid, I'm not going to try to prove my assertions. I just ask that you be like Lewis Carrol's White Queen and be prepared to entertain belief in impossible things.
A lot of the Creation mythos revolves around the Theory of Evolution being wrong. I've heard all of the arguments, and I am particularly leery of arguments that derive from passages in the Bible. People will assert that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant Word of God. However, most everyone will tell you certain passages are 'parables' and will argue that certain words actually mean certain things. Unfortunately, you can get a group of true believers together and have a whacking great argument about what's parable and what words actually mean.
